Legislative Summit Sponsors
IHRSA would like to thank the following companies, without whose support this program would not be possible:
Represent the health club industry in your state by joining us for the 4th Annual IHRSA Legislative Summit.
Delegations are needed from every state in the nation to lobby Congress for their support of positive health promotion legislation.
Event Overview 'Our company was proud to participate and we obtained valuable insights and information about the WHIP Act, the impact of public policy issues, and how lobbying can create a strong 'voice' in the legislative process.' » Gene LaMott, president, Gold's Gym International, Inc. & past Legislative Summit attendee
Come together with industry leaders and share your passion for health and fitness with Congress. The 4th Annual IHRSA Legislative Summit presents an amazing opportunity for a unified effort to encourage healthy lifestyles through positive legislation.
This unique event enables you to network with industry leaders, enhance your lobbying skills, and most importantly, allows you to reinforce the value of exercise to members of Congress.
'You need to be visible to get lawmakers to focus on your issues. What I have found, in my 25 years in Washington, is that legislators truly want your information, and they want you to explain the issues to them. They want to be responsive. They came here to get things done, so come talk to them!' » Mary Matalin, political commentator & 2005 Summit keynote speaker
What will you advocate for?
IHRSA's signature federal legislation, the Workforce Health Improvement Program (WHIP) Act, will be the main issue for the Summit. As the number of co-sponsors for this important bill the advocacy of clubs becomes increasingly important to ensure it's passage. Learn more about the WHIP ACT and what you can do today.
Who should attend?
All fitness professionals with a passion for health promotion. Whether you are a seasoned political activist, or you've never registered to vote you can make a difference in Washington, DC.
New to advocacy?
All clubs are encouraged to participate in this important event and act as the voice of the industry in the halls of Congress. For those that have never lobbied, the Capitol Hill Orientation Session will teach you all you need to know to become an effective advocate for healthy lifestyles. Use these new skills in meetings with your members of Congress and when you return home to make a difference in your community.
